St Magnus International Festival is delighted to have been asked to be part of SCOT:LANDS – the pop-up arts festival at Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.
Ahead of 2017’s Magnus 900 Commemoration, the Festival will bring the story of St Magnus to the Capital on 1 January in a mesmerizing meditation created by Alasdair Nicolson. The programme will include music from the fourteenth century Hymn to St Magnus and from medieval to modern. From choral to traditional, sung, played and danced against the backdrop of the Sails for St Magnus. The landscape and atmosphere of Orkney and its St Magnus Cathedral “the light of the north” will travel south to one of Scotland’s most glorious buildings.
Participants will include The Mayfield Singers, Gnoss, The Assembly Project, Hannah Eden and Ewan Hambleton.
