Sails in St Magnus

During this anniversary year Sails in St Magnus will be presented  in the Cathedral from Easter Sunday through to Christmas 2017.

Originally created for the St Magnus International Festival in 1993, the 14 painted sails represent Earl Rognavald’s pilgrimage to Jerusalem in 1151. The sails are a collaborative work created by artists Erlend Brown, Dave Jackson, Mary Scott and Andrew Parkinson. The one line poems were specially written for the project by George Mackay Brown.

  1. I visit ed the wonderful cathedral yesterday and loved it. I’m trying to find out more about the sails and the artists who did them. Can you help?
