Mapping Magnus gets underway

The Mapping Magnus Community Archaeology, Research and Training Project which takes places during 2017-18 to mark the 900th anniversary of the death of St Magnus is due to get underway. Centred on the parish of Birsay in the west mainland of Orkney activities will include:

Archive research training
Geophysical survey
Excavation in Birsay Village (25 sept – 6 Oct)
Coastal survey
Noust (boat house) survey
Walkover survey
Schools workshops
Music and storytelling workshops
